💔 covid is a monster, and we can't rest just driving it out of our own towns.  we need to track that MFer down & eradicate it completely, not let it recover in someones elses backyard to return stronger.  the downstream effects it has and continues to set off will be felt for generations....

Delta is scary. It drops in infections because people are vaccinated or dead?

I thought vaccines make it less likely to infect even though virus load of delta is 1000x higher than the original.

Larry Brilliant, one of the world's leading epidemiologists, said that the delta variant is potentially "the most contagious virus" in human history. He points out that the rhetoric in western nations fails to account for the truth that only 15% of the world population is vaccinated and in more than 100 countries less than 5% of the population is vaccinated. He says the pandemic has not yet reached the halfway point, and predicts that new variants will continue to develop in countries with low vaccination rates and spread around the world. In regard to the delta variant, he says his models show that while it spreads at a fast pace, infection rates drop quickly because it runs out of people to infect, a trend that has already been observed in the UK and India.
