good news for Chinese ride-hailing giant Didi Chuxing?

They have substantially narrowed losses in the first quarter, several months after regulators slapped it with a US$1.2 billion fine for data violations. 

Didi recorded a net loss of 1.2 billion yuan (US$167 million) in the first three months of this year, a 93 per cent improvement from its 16.3 billion yuan loss in the same period in 2022.

First-quarter revenue reached 42.7 billion yuan, up 19.1 per cent from 35.8 billion yuan a year earlier, driven by a rapid recovery in daily transactions after lackluster demand during the Lunar New Year holiday in January.

Any green energy non-EV picks to share?  I think EV gets a lot of hype & attention, wonder if there is a pick & shovel play here

That’s true. My view is that the platforms with their massive pools of data and consumer reach represent a threat to the CCP, which is why they have been brought under control.

I don’t really see EVs being in the same bucket - you could argue that EVs may become a hardware platform with the influence of smart phones in the future, but this is a slow moving telegraphed process. Improving energy security is also a mission critical issue for china. 

Both reasons to be incrementally bullish around the green energy ecosystem in China IMO, though I am nibbling not yoloing here 😂

It all sounds great, but the gov there giveth and taketh away at unpredictable whims.  I cry a little about all the BABA I own, but EVs should run up eventually

I’m most bullish on BYD because governments will mandate their bus fleets to go electric faster than consumers will switch and there less competition for EV buses. 

Also willing to speculate on Li Auto and Xiao Peng, but this is mainly because of my perspective in China on who is executing well, which is very anecdotal
