Imagine a world where companies report earnings only twice a year, instead of every quarter. Switching to a half-yearly corporate reporting cadence, away from the quarterly one should would encourage companies to focus on the long term, rather than the next quarter. After all, as things stand now, it often seems we’ve barely finished one round of earnings when the next one starts.
