Should there be another index, one that shows how a broader group of tech stocks is performing minus the  market capitalization of the bigger companies?  Ie. Leave big tech off of it? Maybe it could be called the EveryoneElseInTech Index, or EEIT for short. Just an idea.

💯 That’s ~ Trading 212’s pie feature.  A pie is an index fund you compose with whatever stocks you like. You could make a fund that consists of 5% Tesla stock, 50% Amazon stock, and 45% of a gold ETF. Your imagination is the limit.

They also made this feature “social.” There’s a vast, public pie library inside their app. You can see which pies are the most viewed, copied, commented on, and which have the best return. You can discuss pies with other users. Any pies you like, you can add to your portfolio with a single tap.

Basically using pies is a crowd-sourced and crowd-assessed investing approach. You invest in funds the crowd has both created and vetted. An easy way to test this approach is to pick the five most popular pies, invest equal sums, say $100 each, and see if the crowd is wise. Of course, you can also create your own indices, and see if the crowd agrees with your ideas.

The concept is fairly novel, but as some meme investments like Dogecoin, Gamestop, and AMC have shown, investing together as a large, social group will only get bigger from here.

agree, but would love for it easier for ordinary retail investors to create/fork their own basket of stocks so they don’t inadvertently fund companies that conflict with their values (I.e. companies profiting from harm to society).  Fill out a survey and some transparent algo creates it etc
