The EUROPEAN Commission has asked its staff to uninstall the TikTok social media app from their corporate and personal devices over safety and security concerns. 🔑 The key feature of Project Texas is a new subsidiary: TikTok U.S. Data Security Inc. (USDS).
🏘 USDS will house TikTok teams that access U.S. user data, access TikTok’s software code and back-end systems, or moderate content on the platform.
💲 TikTok estimates that it will cost $1.5 billion to stand up USDS.

As someone who has worked on cross-border data transfers for years (including between US and China), I am super interested in this how this huge experiment goes: from the tech, corporate management, and policy layers.
