There were grand predictions of Japan crushing US gdp back in the day as well. Both are export model economies. Like JP, CN population now in decline while shadow debt has ballooned. These predictions are like gusts of wind. Always changing.

Also, Goldman and other MSM reporters are using public data published by China which most likely  are massaged and inflated. 
Don't trust CCP narrative by trusting it's GDP and COVID figures
